As agreed by the CICA Member States regular meetings of the SWG and SOC will be held on October 15-16 and 17, 2007 respectively, in Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the forthcoming meetings the main items on the agenda of the meeting will be consideration of the action for the realization of the CICA Confidence Building Measures and the Cooperative Approach for the Implementation of the CICA Confidence Building Measures; consideration of the CICA’s external relations; finalization of the Convention on Legal Capacity of the CICA Secretariat and its Privileges and Immunities; and administrative financial issues of the CICA Secretariat.

As it is known the idea of convening the CICA was first proposed by President H.E. Mr. Nursultan Nazarbayev, on October 5th, 1992, at the 47th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. Today 15 years later the CICA has become a multi-national forum for enhancing cooperation towards promoting peace, security and stability in Asia.

The objectives and activities of the CICA found wider understanding and recognition of the world community. Enlargement of the CICA process, as a result of accession of new members, like Thailand (2004) and the Republic of Korea (2006), is a very clear evidence of its relevance and importance in the continent of Asia.
