Mr. J. Asanov, Executive Director of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) had a meeting with Mr. Marc Perring de Brichambaut, Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in Astana on June 29, 2008. This was the first ever meeting between heads of the two bodies. Mr. Asanov and Mr. de Brichambaut discussed cooperation between CICA and OSCE in the areas of common interests. They agreed that there was substantial convergence in the activities of CICA and OSCE which provided great potential for cooperation between them. They decided that the two Secretariats would work towards building mutually beneficial relationship.
