Member State hosting the regular meeting of the Heads of State and/or Government shall be the CICA Chairman until the next regular Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs. The Member State hosting the regular Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs shall be the CICA Chairman until the next regular meeting of the Heads of State and/or Government.

Kazakhstan held the CICA Chairmanship during the period 2002-2010.

Turkey assumed CICA Chairmanship in 2010, initially for the period 2010-12. The tenure of the Turkish Chairmanship has been extended until 2014.

The People’s Republic of China assumed  the responsibility of CICA Chairmanship for the period 2014-16.

The CICA Chairman is responsible for the coordination and communication on current CICA activities. The Chairman presides over various CICA meetings; and coordinates and reports on the activities of CICA. With the consent of the Member States Chairman represents CICA in the United Nations and other international forums.
