Ambassador Gong Jianwei, Executive Director of the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), had a meeting with Mr. Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev, Chairman of the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan; in Astana on 10 February 2015 at the request of the latter.

Chairman of the Senate, congratulated the well-known Chinese diplomat for his appointment to the high post, and mentioned that successful Chinese Chairmanship of CICA is contributing to the fact that the forum has acquired influence and become an important factor in ensuring security in the Asian continent.

K.Tokayev stressed that Head of State NursultanNazarbayev highly appreciates the Fourth CICA Summit held in Shanghai, where practical mechanisms of confidence-building measures and cooperation in Asiawere developed.

Gong Jianwei expressed his gratitude to the Speaker of the Senate for the welcome and congratulations, and informed him about the plan of further development of the CICA.
